About

About JEIMUN

The Japan Educational International Model United Nations (JEIMUN) is an annual, three-day, all-English Model UN conference held in Tokyo, Japan. It brings together middle and high school students from across Japan and around the world to simulate the workings of the United Nations. Participants engage in realistic debates and negotiations, tackling pressing global issues while developing diplomatic, leadership, and critical thinking skills. Beyond formal sessions, JEIMUN fosters cultural exchange, offering a platform for students to share their perspectives and experiences across borders. By uniting diplomacy with intercultural understanding, JEIMUN empowers the next generation of global leaders in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Mission

At JEIMUN, our mission is to empower the next generation of global leaders by fostering a deep understanding of international diplomacy, critical global issues, and collaborative problem-solving. We aim to provide an immersive learning experience where students can engage in diplomatic dialogue, develop public speaking and negotiation skills, and cultivate a spirit of teamwork across cultures and borders.

Through our simulation of the United Nations, we strive to encourage participants to think critically about global challenges and to inspire them to take meaningful action toward building a more peaceful and equitable world.

History

JEIMUN was established by Zenmoken1 to provide a fully English-language MUN experience for middle and high school students in Japan. Recognizing the importance of international collaboration and communication, JEIMUN was created as a platform where students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds could engage in diplomatic discussions without language barriers.

The inaugural JEIMUN 2024 was held from January 6–8, 2024, bringing together 176 students from 33 schools across Japan. Although the first conference was limited to domestic participants, it successfully fostered meaningful dialogue and cross-cultural exchange in an immersive English-language environment.

Building on this foundation, JEIMUN 2025 was held from January 10–13, 2025, expanding its reach to include 193 participants from 34 schools around the world. This marked a significant milestone in JEIMUN’s mission to create an international platform for young leaders to engage in realistic diplomatic debates, develop leadership skills, and strengthen their understanding of global issues.

As JEIMUN continues to grow, it remains committed to inspiring the next generation of global leaders through education, collaboration, and meaningful international dialogue.

  1. 全国中高教育模擬国連研究会 (Zenmoken, 全模研) is an organization dedicated to introducing Model United Nations (MUN) activities into school settings. It provides a platform for teachers to research and refine effective implementation methods through case presentations and collaborative studies. Additionally, Zenmoken aims to share these findings, offer a nationwide MUN platform to cultivate international understanding, information-gathering skills, and negotiation abilities among high school students, and promote the expansion of MUN activities. Through these efforts, Zenmoken seeks to foster individuals with a strong international perspective and social awareness, equipping them to make significant contributions as future leaders in the global community. ↩︎
